David Imrie
was born in 1973 and grew up in England and Scotland. He took to playing
music at around the age of 18 when a guitar got left in his room for
several months when at university in Oxford.
David has never yet had a formal music
lesson, which perhaps accounts for the relative simplicity and accessibility
of his music. Principally a singer, David also plays guitar and hacks
away vaguely in time on diverse other instruments..
David is a prolific songwriter and has
penned well over 100 songs to date.
One and One
(2006) is David's first professionally produced album, although several
hundred copies of the home produced album Wide Eyed (2002)
presumably remain in existence somewhere.
David's belief is that all forms of art
are essentially about the transference of energy from the artist to
the audience, be that in the form of wistfullness, melancholy, happiness
or whatever. To this end David's recordings and live performances are
all about getting the fundamental character of the songs across.
David's songs are a random mixture of abstraction
and autobiography, and he hopes you get something from them to take
away with you.
David is now playing live with The
David Imrie Trio
